20 Wishes for 2016 Training Camp

It’s about time for one of my favorite events of the year …

Training Camp!

It’s when we finally get to see the new team that has been built throughout the offseason. We’ve been able to look at it on paper, but now, the time has come to see the players on the field together. Training camp is when a team finds its identity for the upcoming season, and in John Fox’s second year at the reins, there looks to be competition everywhere you look on the roster, which should breed a competitive mindset within the locker room that will last throughout the season.

I will be in attendance this week for the first practice open to the public, and even though there are a number of players I will be keeping an eye on, there’s a list of wishes I hope come true by the time training camp closes.

Here are my 20 Wishes:

  1. Everyone ends camp healthy
  2. Adrian Amos takes the next step and forces turnovers
  3. Leonard Floyd improves day in and day out
  4. The secondary finds its identity
  5. Danny Trevathan and Jerrell Freeman becomes a fearful duo at ILB
  6. Jonathan Bullard outright wins the starting DE position opposite of Akiem Hicks
  7. Kyle Long looks “back at home”at guard
  8. Eddie Goldman is on top of his game coming off the ankle injury
  9. Jay Cutler builds chemistry with Kevin White
  10. A dynamic kick returner emerges
  11. Jeremy Langford and Jordan Howard both look capable being No. 1 running back
  12. Cody Whitehair wins the battle at left guard
  13. Dowell Loggains gets comfortable calling plays
  14. Daniel Braverman becomes the slot receiver
  15. Hroniss Grasu plays up to speed physically and mentally
  16. Tracy Porter plays like he’s worth the money
  17. Willie Young shows glimpses of deserving a contract extension
  18. Alshon Jeffery steers clear of soft-tissue injuries and is happy to be at camp
  19. Kyle Fuller plays like a veteran
  20. The offensive line gels and becomes a cohesive unit

If the majority of these wishes come true by the regular season, the Bears will find themselves in great shape heading into Week 1 and beyond.
